The following is a list of notable events that happened in RuneScape in 2003.
January
- 11 January - New website
- 14 January - Siw Midtrud's death is announced in Update:Siw Midtrud.
- 24 January - New Quest coming!
- 27 January - The Shilo Village quest is added.[1]
- 28 January - The Wilderness Agility Course and the Gnome Ball minigame are added.[2][3]
- 31 January - We just keep getting bigger!
February
- 12 February - New kids on the block
- 13 February - The biggest update ever...
- 24 February - Extended Quest continues!
- 27 February - 1 year of RuneScape Members
March
- 3 March – The Underground Pass quest is added.[4]
- 17 March - The Observatory Quest is added.[5]
April
- Easter – Bunny ears spawned on the ground all over RuneScape.
- 14 April - Spears and Throwing knives are added.[6]
- 23 April - Bang! I win! Jagex team photo
May
- 7 May - The Watch Tower Quest is added, and the bank space for Members is increased.[7][8]
- 26 May - Screenshots of the new engine!
- 27 May - The quest Dwarf Cannon is added.[9] Also, Sleeping bags are added, and mining is changed.[10]
- 29 May - Some bugs involving the newer quests were fixed.[11]
June
- 9 June – The Murder Mystery quest was added.[12]
- 16 June - New RS Engine Progress
July
- 9 July – The Digsite quest was added.[13]
- 22 July - New Engine Screenshots #2
- 28 July - The quest Gertrude's Cat is added, and Cats are made available as pets.[14] Also, the Fishing Trawler minigame is added.[15]
August
- 20 August - The Legends Quest is added.[16]

- 22 September - The Mage Arena is added.[17]
October
- 1 October - RS2 beta - date decided!
- 31 October - For Hallowe'en, scythes are dropped all over the ground.
November
- 2 November - RS2 is still on schedule
- 7 November - The infamous Partyhat duplication glitch was exploited.
- 24 November - RS2 Combat system explained
December
- 1 December – The RuneScape 2 beta is released.[18] Also, later, 3 new RuneScape 2 servers were added.[19]
- 2 December – Bugs involving the RuneScape 2 beta were fixed.[20]
- 3 December - More bugs involving the RuneScape 2 beta were fixed.[21]
- 5 December - More bugs involving the RuneScape 2 beta were fixed.[22]
- 8 December - Some RuneScape 2 servers were removed.[23]
- 9 December - More bugs involving the RuneScape 2 beta were fixed.[24]
- 14 December - More bugs involving the RuneScape 2 beta were fixed.[25]
- 15 December - The RuneScape 2 map was expanded to include Seers' Village, Camelot, Catherby and Brimhaven.[26]
- 18 December - New features were added to the RuneScape 2 beta, and some bugs were also fixed.[27]
- 22 December - Cancellation of Christmas item drops.[28]
