Aberrant spectres are Slayer monsters that require level 60 Slayer to kill. They frequently drop large amounts of grimy herbs and herb seeds. Because of this, bringing a Herb sack and Seed box when killing them is recommended.
Deviant spectres, found in the Catacombs of Kourend, can be killed in their place if you are assigned aberrant spectres.

Strengths and weaknesses
A nose peg or slayer helmet is required when fighting Aberrant spectres; if you do not, their attacks will always hit and drain your combat stats extremely fast.
They attack using Magic so the Protect from Magic prayer can be helpful, or players can wear dragonhide armour. Using a Salve amulet or Salve amulet (e) will give you a large advantage, since they are an undead monster. However, bonuses do not stack with a slayer helm/black mask. It should also be noted that using Protect from Magic does not counter their stat reducing abilities.
It is also possible to safe spot one of the aberrant spectres by using the south-eastern corner of the wall of the staircase-room, but only with a long-ranged attack. This only works with Ranged or Magic, as there has to be at least 6 spaces between the player and the aberrant spectre before the player gets out of the spectre's attack range. It's not possible to use halberds or thrown weapons such as throwing knives and thrownaxes without getting hit as their attack range is not long enough.
It's possible to safe-spot in the Slayer Tower by standing on the brick pile just west of the agility chain shortcut and pulling spectres just in front of the suit of armor from the room south of the shortcut. A crossbow's rapid attack style will be able to target aberrant spectres from this distance, making it a very useful spot.
