|It has ancient goblin symbols on it.|
The Ancient mace is a one-handed weapon that can be acquired during Another Slice of H.A.M. If the mace is lost after the quest, it can be retrieved from the goblin archaeologist Tegdak for 1,000 coins, who is located north-east of the Dorgesh-Kaan marketplace. If lost during the quest, the generals in Goblin Village will sell the mace to players for 1,000 coins.
The ancient mace has stats in between those of a black mace and mithril mace and requires level 15 Attack and level 25 Prayer to wield. Its special attack ignores the effects of Protect From Melee and drains the opponent's prayer using the attacking player's Prayer level to determine the damage dealt.
It is a useful tool for restoring prayer while in the Nightmare Zone, after activating a power surge power-up, which gives the player infinite special attack power. In order to maximize the amount of prayer points restored, activating a melee-boosting prayer (such as Piety) before using the special attack is advised.
The Ancient mace can raise your prayer points above your maximum prayer level, but only by the amount of damage you inflict with the special attack.
Example: If a player with 50 Prayer has full prayer points and hits a 15 with the special attack, it would be boosted to 65. The boosts are not additive. This means the boost will remain until the player's prayer reaches its base level (e.g. 50), and only then can the player boost their prayer points once again.
