Walkthrough
A feast for a Duke
(If you don't want to go through the entire process the quest intends, just bring a pot of flour, a bucket of milk and an egg with you to complete the quest in seconds.)
To begin the quest, talk to the cook in the Lumbridge Castle's kitchen, which is on the ground floor[?]. He tells you that it is Duke Horacio's birthday, and he is supposed to prepare a cake for the celebration, but he has forgotten to bring some of the ingredients required for the cake. Thus, he requires you to bring him a bucket of milk, an egg, and a pot of flour.
Bucket of milk
A bucket of milk may be obtained from the Lumbridge cow field (east of Lumbridge, north of the entrance to the desert). Simply use a bucket on the dairy cow. You can get a bucket from the general store for 2 coins. If you don't have the coins, just pickpocket a man. You can find a bucket by the chickens west of the cow pen as well, inside the house, or one spawns downstairs in the castle's cellar on a table.
Egg
To obtain an egg, go west of the cow field and pick it up. It's in the chicken coop.
Pot of flour
To obtain a pot, get it from the table by the Cook in Lumbridge Castle. To obtain a pot of flour, you must go north of Lumbridge and follow the road until you get to the mill. Collect the grain outside and go to the top floor, put the wheat in the hopper and then pull the lever. Back on the ground floor[?], use your pot to collect it from the bin.
Delivery
To wrap up, take the ingredients back to the cook in the Lumbridge Castle. Speak to him for the final time to give him the ingredients.
Rewards
- 1 Quest point
- 300 Cooking experience
- Permission to use the Cook-o-matic 100, which significantly reduces the chance of burning food.
Trivia
- Cook's Assistant is one of 6 quests released on the launch day of RuneScape.
- There is an easter egg in the Death to the Dorgeshuun quest, when you introduce Zanik to the Lumbridge Cook, he tries to offer the quest to her. "In fact, it's a good thing I met you. It's the Duke's birthday today, and I should be making him a lovely big birthday cake. I need eggs, flour and milk..." You then tell the cook she does not have time for that, to which he responds "It was worth a try." This insinuates that the cook tries to scam newcomers into bringing him supplies.
