Dragon boots are boots made of dragon metal. Like most other dragon items they cannot be made using the Smithing skill. The boots require a Defence level of 60 to wear and can be obtained as a drop from Spiritual mages (found in the God Wars Dungeon), which require a Slayer level of 83 to kill.
Dragon boots have a Strength bonus twice that of Rune boots. The only boots that have higher Defence bonuses are Bandos boots and Primordial boots. Bandos boots have a prayer bonus of 1, and 1 higher stab, crush, and slash defence bonuses, but no strength bonus. Bandos boots do have a range defensive bonus that the other melee boots do not have. Primordial boots have +22 to all melee defences, +1 more strength, and +2 to all melee attack bonuses, but are very expensive in comparison. Due to these facts, dragon boots are commonly used by players who wish to increase their damage for a lower cost. Thus, they are popular with those training the Slayer skill and player killing.
With level 60 in Runecrafting and Magic, dragon boots can be combined with a primordial crystal to create a pair of primordial boots, which has increased stats, and remains tradeable. The process cannot be reversed.
