Energy sprites are monsters within the Clan Wars Ethereal arena, where they fuel the energy for the mystic symbols, which players can use to teleport around the arena. Killing them cuts off the energy, and thus prevents players from using the symbols. The energy sprites respawn in exactly one minute.
