Juniper charcoal is obtained on the southern beach of the Hosidius House in Great Kourend, shown on the map as "Charcoal burners". To make juniper charcoal, the player must cut down the mature juniper trees (located northwest of the bank chest on the beach by the charcoal burners), then add the juniper logs to one of the charcoal furnaces (60 max per furnace) then light it and pay Smoggy 600 coins (per furnace) to watch over the process for you. After about 16-17 hours the player will receive 50 charcoal per log they put in the furnace, producing up to 3,000 juniper charcoal per furnace.
Juniper charcoal is one of the ingredients needed to make dynamite; the others being volcanic sulphur, saltpetre, a pot and a ball of wool. When 10 of these are made you will receive 1% favour with the Lovakengj House. Dynamite is used in the Blast mine minigame, requiring 100% favour within Lovakengj House to participate.
