|A swarm of bugs.|
Harpie Bug Swarms are a mid-level slayer monster that require a Slayer level of 33 to kill. Unlike the swarm random event, harpie bug swarms should be an easy task for most mid-level. Harpie bug swarm are very accurate, and will often hit for up to 6 damage; thus, it is advisable to bring food appropriate for the player's level: many may find lobsters suitable for the task. Defence levels beginning roughly in the late 40s or early 50s or higher will prove helpful in defending against this enemy. To kill this monster, players need a lit bug lantern (buyable from any slayer master), which requires a Firemaking level of 33 to light (unlit will not work).

- Upon a successful hit on a harpie bug swarm, a splash of green liquid will appear under the hitsplat and fall downwards. This is most likely a reference to the idea that bugs have green blood when killed.
