An orange Ket-Zek is fought on wave 62, the only wave in which the player encounters two of them at once. The orange Ket-Zek's spawn location marks the spot where TzTok-Jad will spawn on the next, final wave.
It uses powerful melee and magic attacks, both capable of hitting in the high 40s. For this reason, the prayer Protect from Magic is necessary. Its magic attack is depicted as a fire ball flung from the tail. Additionally, players who come into melee distance of Ket-Zek will be lunged at. Players with a high defence level will find that the melee attack won't hit often; however, if it does, it will inflict massive amounts of damage.
Ranged attacks are generally the best way to deal with this monster as attacking it from afar prevents it from using its melee attacks; if protect from magic is activated while the player is out of melee distance, they will not take any damage from Ket-Zek. A Halberd can be safely used in this fashion as well, however it is not recommended due to its poor attack speed.
Alternatively, a player can attack Ket-Zek with melee by using a strategy involving careful attack timing; a player can safely hit Ket-Zek once with melee during its magic attack animation before quickly taking a step away. If a player uses a fast weapon such an Abyssal whip or a Dragon scimitar, this method will not compromise their attack speed, allowing them to quickly dispatch Ket-Zek.
