Papaya trees are trees that may be grown with the farming skill. Level 57 farmers may plant a papaya tree seed in a plant pot that has been filled with dirt. A gardening trowel is needed to plant the seed, then it must be watered. This action is all performed in the inventory. A planted Papaya tree takes 960 minutes (roughly 16 hours, may take longer if needed) to finish growing.

After 15 minutes or less, the planted seed will become a papaya sapling and can then be transferred to a Fruit tree patch. The fruit tree patch must be raked clean of weeds. Once planted, using a spade, the nearby farmer may be paid to watch over your tree. Payment is 10 pineapples and optionally may be noted to save you space.

A papaya tree sapling may take fourteen or more hours to mature. An Amulet of nature may be bound to the patch to provide progress on its growth. Once mature, the tree produces six papaya fruits at a time.

Planting the papaya tree sapling gives 72 farming experience. A healthy papaya tree, when checked, provides 6,146.6 farming experience. If the farmer does not watch the tree, then disease may grow on the tree which may be removed using secateurs. However, if left alone, the diseased tree will die.

Each papaya fruit, when picked, gives 27 farming experience. Once all 6 papaya fruits have been picked, the tree will slowly produce more fruits until all 6 are available again. Generally, it takes 30 minutes for 1 papaya to grow back, so about 3 hours are required for all 6 to grow back. However, the papaya fruits may be picked anytime they show on the tree.

Papaya tree seeds may be obtained from bird nests.
