Scorpions can be dangerous to low level players training mining. Caution is advised while mining to make sure newer players don't get killed. The deadliest scorpion to free players is either the King Scorpion (level 32), or the scorpions in the Stronghold of Security (level 37 and 59) which has a safe spot in the south entrance. The scorpions found caged in Ardougne Zoo are good for training low level mages and rangers.

Wilderness Slayer Tips
Scorpions can be found in several places in the Wilderness. Many can be found directly west of the air obelisk area in the level 6 - 8 area. Players can walk north-west from Edgeville or the Monastery to quickly reach this spot. This area is ideal for killing scorpions, since the area is not commonly visited by player killers, and the low level Wilderness allows players to teleport away if necessary.
Players can also fight the scorpions by the Lava Maze. This is not recommended since that area is a common spot for player killers. A slash weapon will be needed to cut the web to access these scorpions. A burning amulet can be used to quickly reach this spot.
The Scorpion Pit is not recommended unless the player is killing Scorpia, since the area is in very deep (50+) wilderness and frequently visited by player killers.
