Skull sceptre detail

The Skull sceptre is a staff that is a reward from the Stronghold of Security, obtained by combining a strange skull with a runed sceptre, which are obtained by fusing component items from the monsters found within the dungeon. Its defining feature is the ability to teleport to Barbarian Village, just outside the entrance to the stronghold dungeon. Using the skull sceptre's teleport is a requirement for the hard Varrock Diary.

It will self-destruct after five uses (seven if the sceptre was created after completing the easy Varrock Diary, nine if the sceptre was created after completing the medium Varrock Diary). It is possible to keep track of the staff's charges through the "Divine" option when it is in the inventory.

Parts of the sceptre are rare drops from the monsters listed below, all located on various levels of the Stronghold of Security.

Where to find the piecesEdit

Each piece has a 3% chance of being dropped.

AssemblyEdit

  1. Use the left skull half on the right skull half to create the strange skull.
  2. Use the top of sceptre on the bottom of sceptre to create a runed sceptre.
  3. Use the strange skull on the runed sceptre to create the skull sceptre.

Players can only make and keep one skull sceptre at a time. A new skull sceptre can only be made once the old skull sceptre is either lost or destroyed. However, players can create more strange skulls and runed sceptures as well as keep multiples of the component parts.

Imbuing and rechargingEdit

If players have the RuneScape Authenticator active on their account, they can show the completed sceptre and a pair of fancy or fighting boots to Solztun, found at the very end of the Stronghold, to have him imbue the player's skull sceptre. While imbued, it will not break upon depleting all its charges. It can be recharged with sceptre pieces: each piece will grant three teleport charges, and the combined pieces (strange skull and runed sceptre) will grant six charges. The sceptre cannot be given more than 5 charges (7 charges with easy Varrock Diary, 9 charges with medium Varrock Diary).

Should players disable the Authenticator, the skull sceptre will revert back to its regular state.
